Global brand Under Armour will dress the Slovak University Team at the FISU World University Games in Chengdu, China. At the spectacular opening ceremony, podium and leisure activities, 71 athletes and 32 members of the executive team will be dressed in the sports brand that is all about human performance and giving the courage to push any boundary.
Founded in 1996 by former University of Maryland American football player Kevin Plank, the brand produces functional sportswear that is designed to give athletes a benefit they didn’t know they needed and now can’t live without. Under Armour is also a partner with several student sports programs at the world’s largest universities. “We are honored to have a strong partner and our university team will represent Slovakia at the global event in clothing that is both designer, comfortable and functional,” said Peter Hamaj, head of the team.
Part of the original design is also the new brand Slovakia University Team, which is also the basis for the colour scheme of the clothing. A total of 1870 pieces of clothing were allocated for the Slovak University Team. “When selecting, we focused on the colours white, blue, red. The different types of clothing were selected according to the need for the athletes in terms of the role that the clothing is to fulfill, taking into account the expected weather in China. Short-sleeved T-shirts, short pants, but also clothing for rain or cooler weather in the evening,” said Kamila Schmiedová from Under Armour Czech Republic and Slovakia.
The medals of the FISU Chengdu 2021 World University Games are titled “Rongguang, or Light of Chengdu. We hope that the light of Chengdu will shine on the chests of the athletes of the Slovak University Team and thanks to the cooperation with Under Armour they will shine at the 31st FISU World University Games.
