SLOVAK UNIVERSITY SPORT ASSOCIATION

The Slovak Association of University Sport (SAUŠ) is a voluntary civic association of independent and mutually equal associations with nationwide scope. Its mission is to create conditions for the activities of all entities associated in it in order to support and ensure the development of university sport at all performance levels. Through the mass development of physical education and sport, it seeks to develop sporting values and to facilitate the development of sport in the spirit of university life. To ensure the representation of university sport at events organised by FISU (International University Sport Federation) and EUSA (European University Sport Federation) through performance and elite sport.
In providing these tasks SAUŠ cooperates closely with the Ministry of Education, Science, Research and Sport of the Slovak Republic, with which it concluded in 1997 an agreement on mutual cooperation, joint coordination and organisation of physical education and sport at universities in the Slovak Republic.
SAUŠ was recognised by the decision of FISU in 1993 as the only organisation in the Slovak Republic with rights and obligations in the field of university sport and representation of the Slovak Republic in all events of FISU and its members. SAUŠ is also a member of EUSA and the Slovak Olympic and Sports Committee (SOSC).
